So, this was the most promising lead they had, at this point. Annie was trying not to act nervous, given that she herself was the new variable this time so, like, no pressure.
"Should we try to bring anything?" she wondered, already just going ahead and ruining that attempt at acting cool by asking a worried question. "Just in case?"

"Should we try to bring anything?" she wondered, already just going ahead and ruining that attempt at acting cool by asking a worried question. "Just in case?"
Diego | "What, like water bottles?" Diego asked. "Or something to fight off dinosaurs if Five launches us into the Jurassic period?" |
Five | "I'm not going to launch you into the Jurassic period," Five announced. Because saying hello like a normal human being was for losers. |
Annie | "No one seriously thinks that," Annie lied poorly, managing a little smile to cover. "And we'd figure it out if you did." Oh, God, she really hoped this didn't end with getting eaten by a dinosaur. Pleeeease don't let this end with having to fight a dinosaur, that would really suck. |
Diego | "So we going to do this like the last time?" Diego asked. "With the hand holding and everything?" |
Five | "If it worked then..." Shut up and hold your brother's hand, you goddamn coward. |
Annie | Luckily for everyone, Annie and her total comfort with being passingly affectionate was here and just reaching for both their hands without any hesitation. "And then we just...stand here and hope for the best?" She'd be praying, personally, but she didn't need to share that with the group. |
Diego | Diego took Annie's hand an reached out for Five's. "He's gonna look like he's having an aneurism but it's normal." |
Five | "That's just my expression when dealing with my siblings," Five replied dryly, taking their hands with a deep, slightly annoyed breath. But slightly annoyed at everything was his base state of being. So. |
Annie | "Okay, well." Annie wouldn't be Annie if she didn't give everyone a supportive little hand-squeeze, since they were all linked together. "We've got this. You can do it, Five." She sounded like she really believed it, too. Because she did! It just also made her nervous. |
Diego | Diego was not going to offer words of support or squeeze Five's hand. He did however give him a nod that could be labeled as "encouraging". |
Five | AKA: the cool guy nod. Five nodded back in more of the 'old guy nod' before closing his eyes and... looking like he was having an aneurysm, yes. Shut up. But things were starting to sort of swirl around them like there was wind that was just where they were standing. |
Annie | Okay, well, good thing that they'd warned her, because that was -- concerning, the aneurysm thing. But something was happening, anyway. "Oh my God, oh my God, look," she murmured excitedly, trying not to get ahead of herself. |
Diego | Diego didn't want to get his hopes up, but this was more progress than they had before. "Keep going, Five." Something was happening. He didn't know what, but it was something. |
Five | So maybe they'd been right in adding Annie to the mix to recharge his batteries as it were. Five's grip on each of their hands tightened as he focused hard on navigating both time and space like he was a very surly TARDIS or something. And also maybe because the last time, his other siblings had slipped away from him. That clearly wouldn't happen this time, right? |
Annie | Annie was praying as hard as she could that it wouldn't. That was the biggest risk, as far as she was concerned: that they'd somehow end up separated from each other throughout time, and she was resourceful, but -- Please don't have to fight a dinosaur, please don't have to fight a dinosaur.... "It's working!" she said aloud, encouragingly. Something was working, anyway, and Annie was just going to believe in it with the whole of her earnest heart. |
Diego | Ugh, this was never going to be a feeling he'd get used to. "Something's happ--" Something certainly happened, because with a bright flash of light the three of them had disappeared, and the forest was quiet once again. |
