So, given that Annie was planning on throwing a super-early Christmas party here in two weeks and that she and Diego would be gone next week to see her family, it was completely reasonable for the apartment to already be kind of festive, right?

Whatever, Annie said it was and would be taking no questions, thank you. She hadn't gone totally overboard yet (had to save something for when they got back from Iowa, obviously!), but she had totally just adopted the habit of putting Christmas music on when she was home, and burning a Christmas candle (it smelled like wonderful Christmas treats that neither she nor Diego were capable of baking!) and there was totally a little stack in the corner of the living room of deliveries that had already commenced for the party. The return of Christmas kegs!

Right now, she was taking things into her own hands and winding a few strings of lights through each of her several houseplants (now safely inside and off the balcony, where they'd remain for the winter), and taking extra care with the spider plant that she had no reason to think wasn't the original spider plant from last spring.

"You know what," she mused aloud, "I think the lights might need to be a permanent thing, because you guys are looking great."

Oh, please, all the kissing. Annie shifted a little forward to meet him, one arm sliding up around Diego's shoulders to keep him close.

"You feel good," she whispered between kisses, trying to keep her rhythm going even as things started to feel kind of overwhelming and foggy and unfocused in all the best ways.

"So do you," he murmured, feeling more than a little needy at the moment. It was almost overwhelming right now. Diego tightened his hold on Annie, moving to flip them so he was on top.

It was going to be him that gave up on keeping things slow, surprise, surprise.

That was the absolutely perfect combination of being outrageously hot as a maneuver, but also providing Annie enough of a change that she was pretty confident she wasn't in as much danger of losing it too quickly, here.

"Fuck, I love you," she breathed, both legs immediately winding their way up around Diego as soon as she was on her back. As though a change in position would result in any change in clinging, please.

Diego's response was muffled against Annie's neck, but it was safe to say it was positive. As much as he enjoyed being teased, this what he liked best, being wrapped around each other completely.

His movements had sped up, but he still kept up a steady rhythm, pressing random kisses against Annie's neck. Just trying to savor this for a little while longer.

Annie's breathing was starting to turn a little shallow as she did her best to meet Diego and keep up with his rhythm. As much as she'd liked the teasing, now there was simply no touching him enough.

Her arms wrapped around his back, one hand sliding up along his neck and into his hair with light fingers, and her legs tightened around him a little as she lifted her head up to bite his shoulder just for an outlet, here. "Close."

Not there, mostly by sheer force of will to keep this going. But close.

"Me too," he mumbled, biting down on Annie's shoulder for a moment. There was barely any space between them, but he still managed to slide a hand between their bodies, fingers circling around her clit.

"Fucking perfect --" was all Annie really managed to get out in response to that very well-timed addition before everything was going taut and trembly and bright whether she was ready or not.

Her eyes lit up briefly before she was closing them in favor of burying her face against Diego's shoulder and trying to ride out her orgasm for as long as she could.

Diego moaned again, loudly, squeezing his eyes shut as he felt her tighten up around him. It took only a couple more hard thrusts of his hips before he was coming, immediately feeling himself go lightheaded over how intense it was.

He still managed to keep moving, uncoordinated as it was, trying to draw this out for the both of them.

Annie whimpered softly as she pressed a string of entirely uncoordinated kisses against Diego's shoulder and neck, and yeah, she was actually straight-up shaking under him with how intensely she'd came. Not a complaint. Like, the opposite of a complaint, actually, and Annie might even be able to come up with some sort of praise or comment once she managed to remember silly things like her own name and how to breathe.

For now, though, she was just running one shaky hand up along Diego's spine, gentle and soothing and affectionate. That much she could swing.

Diego sort of melted at that touch, relaxing against Annie with a contented sigh. It took him a few long moments to catch his breath, but soon he murmured, "I love you."

It had been kind of muffled the last time he said it.

"I love you, too." Sure, Annie had been audible before, but it still bore repeating. Especially when she was practically glowing with how good she felt right now. She nuzzled her face into Diego's neck, loving the feeling of his weight pressing her down into the bed. "You're actually amazing."

Like, fact. She would hear no arguments.

"We both are," he said, nipping her shoulder playfully. He shifted slightly so he was still mostly on top of Annie but not actively crushing her or anything. "That was so good."

As evidenced by the fact that the room still felt a little spinny.

It was super spinny, and good thing Annie didn't need to get up for a few minutes since she was pretty sure her legs no longer worked.

But she was perfectly capable of keeping that hand on Diego's back moving in idle, soft touches. That was about her speed at the moment. "That was incredible," she agreed, pressing a kiss to his jaw. "Christmas decorating really gets you going, huh?"

Diego laughed lightly, nuzzling against her neck. "You get me going."

"Lucky me. The feeling is mutual," Annie replied, tilting her head for a soft, lazy kiss.

Really, that probably wasn't a shock. They generally had a hard time keeping their hands off each other regardless of the circumstances.

"Won't even need the mistletoe above the bed," he joked. "But we should still put it there. Just in case we're off our game one night."

"In case we need the reminder," Annie agreed. "I mean, maybe one of us is like, really tired one night, but there's mistletoe, and then look at that, not so tired after all."

Annie could probably count on one hand the number of times either of them had actually been 'too tired for sex'-tired. But she was still managing a playful little waggle of her eyebrows, all the same.

"Exactly," Diego said, leaning in for a kiss. "Festive and useful."

"Maybe we should keep it year-round."

When better to press one's luck than when tangled up in afterglowy bliss, really?

"Let's see make sure it's not going to come alive and try to kill us during the Christmas season first, then we can discuss year-round." That would definitely hinder their sex lives.

As though fighting a plant together in their own bedroom wouldn't lead to the inevitable.

"That seems fair," Annie decided, pretending to think about it for a second before sealing her declaration with another kiss.
