Kleinfeld, Annie's Manhattan | Thursday Afternoon

Annie was trying to be more excited than nervous today, but no matter what, the two were kind of co-mingling anyway. She might -- hopefully? -- get her wedding dress today! And she'd be filming an episode of television in the process, but whatever, that was just work, right?

And she was bringing Diego's sister. And her Fandom friends. And Maeve.

It would be fine.

And if she kept saying it would be fine, then it would be!

In any case, they were here -- along with a film crew, a gal who was not being shy at all about touching up makeup, Annie's boss Ashley (and her ubiquitous clipboard), and a bridal consultant who seemed torn between being thrilled at her big break and also like she might throw up.

"Eh," Summer waved a dismissive hand. "It's probably like riding a bicycle. It'll probably all just come rushing back."

She sipped her champagne, considering Allison a little speculatively before venturing, with a grin, "So? You excited about all...." She gestured with her non-champagned hand, "this? Not the dress shopping, but, you know, the whole wedding in general?"

"I'm happy for A--Starlight and Diego." Excitement wasn't really a factor, though Allison hadn't really targeted her lack of interest as 'major depression' just yet.

"Honestly, a few years ago if you told me Diego would be the first one of my brothers to be married I would have thought you were drunk." Though it's entirely possible Klaus had been married and just never told anybody.

"Having met Diego," Summer noted, "I'd think 'drunk' would be giving that person far too much credit. But that's...Starlight," the cameras weren't rolling yet, so Summer was going to get her eyerolls over having to use Annie's superhero name out of her system now, "for you. She's just got that draw, and they're...pretty amazing together."

"They are," Allison agreed with a smile. "You have to be a pretty special person if you're willing to deal with our family drama. She does it with a smile, even."

"And it's all, like, genuine, too," said Summer, with a fond shake of her head, and, at this rate, it wouldn't be long before she was just looking over at Annie with total bestie heart-eyes. "Diego is definitely one lucky son of a bitch, and the great thing is that he totally knows it, too."

"And if he forgets there's a ton of people willing to remind him," Allison said lightly. "With or without violence is his choice."

"Oh," said Summer, who was now definitely sparing some of that fondness for Allison, too, "I like you."

Granted, she had a feeling that she would, but Summer did always love it when she was right about something.

Allison smiled. "I like you too. Good thing--I have the feeling we're going to be the ones in charge of herding the groomsmen."

"Which," Summer snorted faintly, "all things considered, is going to be no small task. And that's from me just knowing only one of them! But I've heard stories."

And she was convinced this was going to be one hell of a wedding.

She just really, really, really hoped 'one hell of a wedding' didn't wind up going the same direction that Birdperson and Tammy's had...

"They all kind of share one brain cell," Allison joked. "Usually Five is the one in control of it but since this an event that requires knowing social cues, it's up in the air."

She was fairly sure it'd be Viktor who would be the one to not embarrass the family. Usually he went big or went home ending the world, not tripping down an aisle.

Summer just sort of had a certain....look on her face, a bit inscrutable, but one hundred percent fueled by what could only be described as a certain concern...not quite dread, but almost...that came from a phrase like Five being in control of it...

"Yikes."

Actually, no, that covered it pretty well, didn't it?

She laughed, though. "I'm honestly really stoked, though," she said. "It's going to be a blast, and I'm really looking forward to finally meeting all of you guys. You guys almost seem to give my family weirdness a run for its money."

"Well, with six of us, we've got the numbers," Allison said. "We tend to dominate everything, even weirdness."

She was just crossing her fingers the apocalypse didn't happen because that was usually the case when they were all in the same room together.

"I just hope everything goes perfectly for her," Allison said, nodding her head towards Annie. "She deserves it."

There was a slight moment of distaste on Summer's face at trying to think of there being any more than there already was of her clan, which would feel like such a sweet, innocent, almost wistful thought when they started working between dimensions to form fighting mech armies in space....

But after that? Nothing but an outpouring of complete agreement.

"She really does. Like, I'm so happy for her, I could practically vomit."

Especially now that it was starting to hit Summer a little more, now that they'd be surrounded by wedding dresses.

But she'd definitely hold off on the barfing here unless a distraction was desperately needed.
